From managing photos to sending them: exactly what PhotoRname does, step by step.
Load a folder of photos to rename them based on your session log. Choose "JPG Only", "CR3 Only" or "Both" display mode — when renaming, matching files (e.g. CR3 + JPG with the same name) are automatically copied together. Supports JPG, JPEG, PNG and RAW from all major brands: CR3/CR2 (Canon), NEF/NRW (Nikon), ARW (Sony), RAF (Fujifilm). Camera brand is detected automatically and shown as a badge, even with multiple cameras at once (e.g. "Canon + Nikon").
Monitor a folder and watch new photos automatically appear as thumbnails, refreshed every second. Click for a preview slideshow with keyboard shortcuts (Enter = approve, Escape = reject, arrows = browse). Filter by person, use "Approve all"/"Reject all" for bulk actions, and delete rejected photos (including their matching files) all at once.
Confirm a name from the list (or type one manually for last-minute additions) and the app records the exact timestamp. Photos taken after this moment are automatically assigned to that person, until the next confirmation. Make sure your camera and computer clocks are in sync: a deviation of more than 20 seconds can already cause incorrect matches. A time-correction feature compensates for a difference afterwards, without modifying files.
Matches names from Excel against renamed photos again, via fuzzy matching with an 80% threshold (small typos are not a problem). Supports a main folder plus two optional extra folders (e.g. a black-and-white version or social-media format) with the same filenames. Configure your own SMTP server (Gmail, Outlook or a custom domain), customize the email template and signature, and send in bulk with progress visible in the log.
Load names (and optionally email addresses) from an .xls or .xlsx file; the app automatically detects which columns contain text. Export a CSV overview of all photos with associated names, email addresses and ratings at any time — handy for archiving or a later check.
Every session stores your name list, timestamp log, photo folder and ratings. Save multiple sessions separately, load them back later (including earlier photo ratings), and delete a session once you no longer need it. Session files are stored locally in your AppData folder, so you can back them up yourself.
